Happy Holidays and New Year! My gift to you, a story featuring Taylor of Serres Ranch. She’s an ambitious 5th generation family member who loves to share the story of their nearly 100 year old ranch. She does so with guests while introducing you to their wine in the middle of the vineyards. I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of the experience as I did.

However, winemaking is just part of the many endeavors the family at Serras Ranch has embarked upon over the years. Growing blueberries is crop they also farm, and since the berries are available, why not make wine out of them? Ya, no kidding. They sell Bleusé!. You’ll hear about the wine grape they use to blend with the blueberries. Details about the other ventures they’re involved with await you. Did I not mention the spa? You’ll hear about that too. California Wines Served during French President Macron Visit

On December 1st, 2022, President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden hosted French President Emmanuel Marcon and his wife Brigitte at the White House. Here are the wines that were served during the State Dinner. As you’ll see, they are all from California, but with a French flair. 

For the First Course –

Maine Lobster with American caviar was served with 2018 Newton Unfiltered Napa Valley Chardonnay. 
Newton is owned by the French Luxury Goods Company, LVMH (Moët  Hennessy Louis Vuitton).

The Second Course – 

Calotte of beef with shallot marmalade was paired with 2019 Anakota Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Sonoma County brand is owned by Jackson Family Wines, but crafted by their business partner, Bordeaux winemaker Pierre Seillan.

The Third Course –

American artisanal cheeses, orange chiffon cake, roasted pairs, and creme fraishe ice cream, was accompanied by Roederer Estate Brut Rosé NV from the cool climate of Mendocino County. The French-owned Roederer Esate has been making wine Anderson Valley since 1988.

The wines were served in Baccarat crystal, in keeping with the French theme. The dinner sounds divine!

Additional guests were John Legend and Chrissie Teigen, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Jennifer Gardner. Esteemed guests were also in attendance,  LVMH owner Bernard Arnault and Hélène Marie Mercier Arnault, as well as Bouchaine winery owners Tatiana Copeland and Gerret Copeland.

Sadly, I could not attend as I had a prior engagement.
